En 2016, Thin Blue Line signait News From What We Once Thought, un premier long-jeu révélant une signature musicale faite de guitares à ponctuation post-rock, de synthés analogiques et backbeats à saveur krautrock, donnant un univers riche en texture. Le quatuor montréalais proposait alors une expérience instrumentale cinématographique, à la fois diaphane, poreuse, mais aussi propulsée par une puissance mordante et pénétrante.
La formation s'est de nouveau rassemblée en hiver 2016 pour composer et enregistrer la nouvelle série de morceaux qui se retrouvent sur leur nouvel EP, Memory and Geometry, à paraître le 3 novembre chez Michel Records.
Cette fois, les guitares lancinantes s'entrelacent, soulignent une composition plus assurée soutenue par des rythmes bétonnés. Mais la plus grande variation opérée par Thin Blue Line est l’ajout de la voix de Toby Andris sur deux des quatres pistes du EP, substituant les fantômes des ondes présentes dans le premier album. Ce chant vient amplifier des titres d’autant plus envoûtants, peuplés de références littéraires, artistiques, de souvenirs visuels parfois fantasmés et, bien sûr, revêtant une dimension cinématographique

In 2016, the Montreal quartet released News From What We Once Thought, their full-length debut, which introduced their singular brand of post-rock guitars, bubbling krautrock analog synths, and highly textured beats and soundscapes. It was a synesthetic experience, at times gauzy and diaphanous, and incisively propulsive at others.
The guys got back together in the Winter of 2016 to compose and record the latest pieces for the new EP, Memory and Geometry, out November 3rd on Michel Records. Once again anchored by pulsing rhythms, this time the searing guitars intertwine to underscore much bolder compositions. But the greatest enhancement comes with the addition of Toby Andris’s vocals on two of the EP’s four tracks, finally giving a voice to the ghostly atmosphere of first album.
